All commissions are undertaken by Alexa Craig Art under the terms below. By submitting a commission request or paying a deposit, you agree to these terms.

1. Commission Acceptance

All commission requests are subject to acceptance. Submission of a request via form does not guarantee availability or acceptance.

Alexa Craig Art reserves the right to decline any commission without obligation to provide a reason.

Reasons for refusal may include (but are not limited to):

• Style mismatch
• Unrealistic expectations or scope
• Incomplete reference material
• Schedule capacity

2. Deposit & Payment Terms

A non-refundable deposit is required to secure all commission work.

• Standard deposit: 50% of total price (confirmed at booking stage)
• Work will not begin until deposit is received in full
• Remaining balance is due prior to final delivery or collection unless otherwise agreed

Failure to pay outstanding balances may result in:

• Suspension of work
• Withholding of final artwork files or delivery
• Cancellation of commission (see Section 7)

3. Pricing

Commission pricing is based on:

• Size and medium
• Complexity and subject matter
• Required time investment
• Reference quality provided

Final pricing is confirmed before work begins. Any significant change in scope may result in a revised quote.

4. Reference Material

Clients are responsible for providing clear and accurate reference images where required.

Alexa Craig Art may decline or reinterpret commissions where:

• References are unclear or low quality
• Requests involve copying another artist’s work
• Subject matter is not suitable for the chosen medium or style

Final artwork is an artistic interpretation, not a direct copy unless explicitly agreed.

5. Artistic Freedom

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, Alexa Craig Art retains full creative control over:

• Composition
• Colour palette (where applicable)
• Stylistic interpretation
• Final execution

Commissions are created in the artist’s established style. Requests to replicate another artist’s work or alter the core style will not be accepted.

6. Revisions

Commissions include a limited number of revisions at sketch stage only (typically 1–2 rounds depending on complexity).

Revisions include minor adjustments such as:

• Composition tweaks
• Small detail changes
• Refinement of concept

Revisions do NOT include:

• Complete redesigns
• Style changes after approval
• Changes after final artwork has begun or been completed

Additional revisions may incur extra charges.

7. Cancellations & Refunds

Deposits are strictly non-refundable.

If a client cancels:

• After deposit is paid → deposit is retained
• After work has begun → client may be charged for work completed
• After completion → full payment is still required

If Alexa Craig Art cancels a commission:

• A refund may be issued minus any work already completed (where applicable)

8. Timelines

Estimated completion times are provided at the time of booking.

Timelines are approximate and may vary depending on:

• Current workload
• Complexity of the commission
• Communication delays from the client

Rush deadlines may be declined or subject to additional fees.

9. Delivery

Final artwork will be delivered as agreed during the commission process:

• Physical artwork: collection or shipping (if applicable)
• Digital work: high-resolution file delivery via email or secure download

Shipping costs (if applicable) are not included unless stated.

10. Copyright & Usage Rights

All commissioned artwork remains the intellectual property of Alexa Craig Art under UK Copyright Law.

Unless a separate written licence is agreed:

• Copyright remains with the artist
• Artwork may be used in portfolio, exhibitions, marketing, and promotional material
• Clients receive personal use rights only

Clients may:

• Display the artwork publicly or privately
• Share images of the artwork for personal, non-commercial use with credit

Clients may NOT:

• Reproduce or sell copies
• Use artwork for business branding or commercial purposes
• Alter or manipulate the artwork for derivative use
• Mint or distribute digital versions as NFTs or assets

Commercial licensing must be agreed separately in writing.

11. Approval Stage

Where applicable, clients will be shown progress sketches for approval.

Once approved:

• The design is considered final
• Further changes may not be possible or may incur additional costs

Approval confirms acceptance of composition and direction.

12. Communication

All commission communication is handled via:

• Email or form submissions (preferred)
• Written confirmation for all agreed changes

To avoid errors, verbal instructions alone are not considered binding.

13. Rights to Refuse Completion

Alexa Craig Art reserves the right to cancel or refuse completion of a commission if:

• Client behaviour becomes unreasonable or disruptive
• Payment terms are not met
• Requested changes exceed original scope
• Project no longer aligns with artistic integrity

In such cases, payment will reflect work completed up to that point.

14. Agreement

By submitting a commission request and/or paying a deposit, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to this policy.
